Two years of development. More than a dozen flights in just the last two weeks. Now entering autonomous flight.

vulfguard has completed an intensive two-week flight-test campaign for vulf, its affordable autonomous unmanned aircraft platform.

After approximately two years of development and flight testing, the latest campaign focused on expanding the aircraft’s flight envelope and better understanding its aerodynamic behavior.

More than a dozen flights were conducted, including evaluation of yaw stability, stall characteristics, speed and endurance. The campaign also marked the beginning of a new phase of development with the first flight tests of a dedicated flight computer capable of autonomous flight.

DESIGNED DIFFERENTLY

LOW OBSERVABILITY

vulf’s airframe and material selection are designed to minimize radar reflection. Its compact geometry and side profile give the aircraft a small, bird-like appearance.

LOW ACOUSTIC SIGNATURE

An electrically powered ducted-fan propulsion system was specifically developed with a low-noise footprint as a design objective.

AUTONOMOUS

Initial testing of vulf’s autonomous flight computer has begun, establishing the foundation for increasingly capable onboard flight control and autonomous operation.

AFFORDABLE

vulf is designed around affordability and an attritable operating concept, enabling the use of unmanned aircraft in missions where the economics of traditional high-value systems can be prohibitive.

FLEXIBLE PAYLOAD

Internal payload chambers are designed to accommodate mission-specific payloads, including small unmanned systems and other mission equipment.

AERODYNAMIC CHARACTERIZATION

YAW STABILITY
The current wing and airframe configuration was evaluated for directional stability and yaw behavior.

STALL CHARACTERISTICS
The aircraft’s behavior approaching and during stall conditions was evaluated to better understand its handling characteristics and flight envelope.

SPEED & ENDURANCE
Continued flight testing focused on improving and characterizing the aircraft’s speed and endurance.

AUTONOMOUS FLIGHT
Initial tests with the dedicated flight computer begin the transition from manually piloted prototype testing toward autonomous operation.

FROM PROTOTYPE TO SCALABLE PLATFORM

vulfguard is developing vulf around a simple philosophy:

BUILD → FLY → MEASURE → REFINE

Each flight provides data that informs the next iteration of the aircraft, allowing the team to rapidly refine aerodynamics, flight controls, propulsion and autonomous capabilities.

The latest campaign represents an important transition for the program—from demonstrating the aircraft’s basic flight capability toward systematic aerodynamic characterization and autonomous flight.
